UPDATE REGARDING
SETTLEMENT FACILITY OFFICES
IN HOUSTON, TEXAS
Because
of damage to the Houston-metro area caused by Hurricane Ike this past weekend,
the Settlement Facility offices for the Dow Corning Settlement Plan will
remain closed this week. To the best
of our information, all staff employees at the Settlement Facility offices are
safe, and we are very thankful for that. Power remains out throughout the Houston metro area including in the building that houses the Settlement Facility offices,
and city and interstate roads are flooded and filled with debris.
Claimant files at the
Settlement Facility offices are secure.
All files are electronically scanned, and a back-up tape was updated as of noon
on Thursday, September 10, 2008. The back-up tapes are maintained off-site,
outside of Houston, and are secure. In addition, the file room that houses the
claimant files was secured with a special cover by staff before the office
closed last week.
Please
do not call or send any emails to the Settlement Facility this week. Even
though an email may appear to go through, the Settlement Facility asks that you
wait until the offices are functioning and then resend any email that was sent
after noon on Thursday, September 10th.
If
you have legal counsel in the Houston metro area, you may consider waiting a
week before trying to contact them.
We
will let you know as soon as the Settlement Facility offices re-open. Please
continue to keep all of the Houston metro area in your thoughts.
