SF-DCT OFFICE TEMPORARILY CLOSES DUE TO COVID-19 SAFETY CONCERNS

Here is the message from the SF-DCT website:

"As the national emergency regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) unfolds, we here at the SF-DCT want you to know that your health and safety and that of our employees is most important. In light of recent developments, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our offices. We are taking proactive steps to monitor mail, emails, and phone call messages. Please continue to check the Settlement Facility website (www.sfdct.com) and the Claimants' Advisory Committee website (www.tortcomm.org) for updates. In the meantime, we hope you stay safe, and we look forward to the days when this challenge is behind us."

We do not know how long the COVID-19 virus will affect all of us or when the Settlement Facility will re-open. We realize that many of you will have questions about your claim status, payment, cure deadline, etc. The CAC is continuing to work closely with the Settlement Facility to ensure that these important issues are addressed, and we will post updates on our website, the CAC Facebook page, and in future newsletters.

PROBATE INFORMATION (BENEFITS PAYABLE AFTER A CLAIMANT'S DEATH): If a claimant has died, her estate can receive the claimant's approved payments, but they must contain certain necessary documents from the probate court. For more information on what the Settlement Facility needs, contact them toll free at: 1-866-874-6099 or by email at info@sfdct.com.

ATTORNEY FEE LIMITS AND EXPENSES: The Plan sets a cap on the attorney fees payable to your attorney (if you were represented individually on your claim). The fee limits are: 10% of the first $10,000; 22.5% of the next $40,000; and 30% of amounts in excess of $50,000. The Plan also lists the types of expenses that attorneys can charge.
