IN MEMORIAM – JUDGE FRANK ANDREWS
We are very sad to report that Judge Frank Andrews, our friend and colleague who served as the Appeals Judge, Lien Judge, and member of the Finance Committee for this settlement since its inception, passed away on November 26, 2013. Judge Andrews was also the Appeals Judge in the MDL-926 / Revised Settlement Program, and he has been actively involved in the breast implant litigation since 1992.
Judge Andrews was an outstanding judge, having served on the 116th District Court in Dallas, Texas, and as Senior District Judge. He retired from the Texas state bench and served on various mass tort committees as a neutral fiduciary. In 2001, he was selected by both parties in the Dow Corning bankruptcy to serve as a member of the Settlement Plan's Finance Committee. He also served as the Appeals Judge and Lien Judge in this litigation. Judge Andrews was known for his fairness, compassion, and honesty, and was highly respected by his colleagues. Each of us on the Claimants' Advisory Committee has known Frank for over 20 years. His wit, humor, intelligence, kindness, and steady hand will be genuinely missed.
Judge Andrews is survived by his wife of 38 years, his son and daughter, and two grandchildren.
