FINANCE COMMITTEE FILES MOTION SEEKING APPROVAL TO PAY REMAINING PREMIUM PAYMENTS FOR RUPTURE AND DISEASE AND TO PAY INCREASED SEVERITY CLAIMS

We are happy to share with you that the Finance Committee filed a motion yesterday, December 23, 2020, seeking the District Court's authorization to make Second Priority Payments (SPP). Included in SPP are Premium Payments to claimants in Classes 5, 6.1, and 6.2 for Rupture, Increased Severity, and Disease. The Premium Payment are the remaining 50% of the allowed Premium Payment amount. The court has previously approved payment of the first 50% Premium Payment.

What happens next? The CAC fully supports this motion and will urge the Court to authorize the payments. Dow Corning - now known as Dow Silicones -- will have a chance to respond to the motion. A hearing date is set for February 2021. It is our sincere hope that the District Court will grant the motion and authorize the remaining Premium Payments at that time. We will keep you posted of all developments. The motion is being posted to our website, www.tortcomm.org.

The Settlement Facility offices and the CAC offices will be closed for the holidays until January 4, 2021. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
